Day 4: Trip to Adelaide

We were up early, so we tried to run back over to Sydney Harbour to catch the sunrise over the Opera House. We were just a bit late for sunrise, but we still got to see a really, really pretty view.

Pancakes on the Rocks was so good that we decided to go one more time, before we headed to the airport and got on our way to Adelaide. We found a street market on our way back, and just enjoyed the sights. Because we still couldn’t get over the size of the Sydney Harbor Bridge, we decided to find the way to climb it so we could walk across it. The crosswalk was fairly easy to find, and as we started walking, we realized that the bridge was so huge, we didn’t have time to go all the way across! We had to settle for halfway.

We headed back to the hotel and crashed with a quick nap, and then went off to the airport. Aside from a very long baggage checking line, there were no issues. For the first time in years, we were able to fly without having to have every liquid we carried on in a container smaller than 3 ounces. The flight was uneventful as well and we got our bags from the baggage claim just in time to catch the shuttle to our apartments.

The apartments are nice, though the bedrooms are a bit small. The wonderful thing about these apartments is that they are fully furnished (dishes included) but they’re still treated like hotel rooms. That means a cleaning service comes every day – they even wash the dishes! They’re located in what “used” to be the sketchy side of town, but I think it’s still recovering. However, if you walk about ¾ a mile down the road, you’re in the middle of a very nice shopping and eating district called Rundle Mall.
We were all exhausted upon our arrival in Adelaide, so we headed out to find something to eat and found a delicious Portuguese chicken restaurant. After eating, we went on a quick walk through Rundle Mall, and then headed back to the room and to sleep.

A few more pictures from the day...

(if you know what you're looking for, you can see the Opera House and bridge from the plane... look around the top middle area of the picture, and it's the white area)
